oh, hey there :)

I'm a Chinese- American illustrator and designer based in Philly, PA. I graduated in 2022 from Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in illustration. My work captures a sense of childlike wonder, warmth, and whimsical storytelling. Supported by my thoughtful, but playful approach to design.
Just a silly little mooncake moseying around.
Artist Statement
At a young age I found interest in the natural world around me. I saw the beauty in overgrown vacant parking lots and dusty glass jars. I had the desire to combine and visually communicate the forgotten vintage nick-nacks, the spectrum of colors in the sky, and scraps of dead stock fabric that I found beautiful with the ideas in my mind. At the same time I wanted to share my findings with others. Over time I realized my creativity is a tool that can improve peoples’ lives in various ways.
I started my painting career in watercolor, and then moved into acrylic, oil, and eventually gouache. Now I work mainly digitally, but my foundation in traditional mediums continues to be reflected in my digital work. I enjoy capturing the mood of an environment and the energy of people. I do this by paying attention to base color variation, surface texture, and lighting.
Sources for my inspirations come from how the light comes through the trees, the rush I get from petting a corgi, and the passion behind my friend talking about a TV show. Anything and everything can be inspiring to me and I realized writing has helped me document and communicate my ideas better. I always have a sketchbook, a piece of paper, or a napkin with me stuffed in a tote bag at the ready.
